Case Study: Dr. Stan Sidhu Website Rebuild

Dr. Stan Sidhu, a renowned professor and Endocrine surgeon, entrusted us with the task of revamping his website to better serve his patients and colleagues. The project aimed to achieve the following objectives:

Addressing the Challenges

Dr. Sidhu's website had a dual purpose: providing essential information and services to patients and facilitating referrals and communication for doctors. The site needed to be intuitive, fast, and reliable for both audiences.

Homepage Optimization The homepage, being the most critical part of the website, was our primary focus. We streamlined the user experience by updating the call-to-actions (CTAs) from general terms like "For Patients" and "For Doctors" to specific actions like "Book Appointment" and "Doctor Referrals." We also improved the visual hierarchy by enhancing accreditations with high-quality, transparent images and integrating social proof through patient reviews.

The content was structured to guide visitors seamlessly through Dr. Sidhu's services, clinic locations, and contact options, ensuring that users never reach a dead end.

Performance Improvements

One of the standout achievements of this project was the dramatic improvement in the website's performance. When we first assessed the site using Google Lighthouse, the performance score was a disappointing 37. Through a series of optimizations—such as image optimization, code restructuring, and the implementation of Next.js—we boosted this score to an impressive 98.

Final Touches

With the homepage optimized, we turned our attention to the rest of the site, updating content and adding new components as needed. This included optimizing the site’s SEO by creating location-specific pages that could rank for relevant search terms, such as "Endocrine Surgeon Bankstown." Additionally, we digitized patient forms using server actions and Resend, making it easier for patients to interact with the clinic online.

Why Custom Code Over WordPress?

While WordPress offers flexibility in content management, custom coding allowed us to achieve unparalleled performance optimization. The lightweight HTML and CSS output, combined with minimal JavaScript on the frontend, led to a faster, more efficient website. Although custom-coded sites require manual content updates, the long-term benefits—reduced costs, better performance, and a tailored user experience—far outweigh this drawback
